Police in Southern Iceland have concluded their investigation of a death of a woman in her sixties at Jökulsár Glacial lagoon last week. A large number of witnesses have been interviewed. The woman was a foreign traveller who was visiting with her family.

The woman died instantly after being hit by amphibious car used to ferry travellers around the lagoon. The woman was hit by the car as it was backing into the lagoon. According to the police the boat is registered as a boat, not a car.

The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service reports that a thorough review of safety at the lagoon will be launched to ensure the safety of visitors at the lagoon. Motorized traffic of amphibious cars used on the lagoon will undergo special review.
