Among exciting workshops and events included in Reykjavík International Film Festival's RIFF Industry Days this year are an introduction to the works of Icelandic screen composers who include Ólafur Arnalds, this years winner of the BAFTA Television Craft Award for his score to the BBC's hit detective series Broadchurch and a visit to RVX  - Reykjavík Visual Effects  whose owners include Baltasar Kormákur (Two Guns, Contraband) and Daði Einarsson, (Gravity, Boardwalk Empire).

Reykjavík International Film Festival (RIFF) will kick off for the eleventh consecutive year on September 25. Every year, RIFF is ripe with 100 fiction films and documentaries, numerous talks and Q&A's, cinematic concerts and special presentations in the swimming pool or at your favourite Icelandic celebrity's house. The festival spans eleven days, September 25th to October 5th with RIFF Industry Days covering the space of four days, October 1st to 4th.

The festival brings a host of special guests from around the world and a wealth of exciting and compelling brand new progressive films. Among the filmmakers who have attended RIFF as guests of honour are Jim Jarmusch, Lukas Moodysson, Milos Forman and Aki Kaurismaki.

RIFF aims to focus on discovering new up-and-coming directors with its New Visions sector being dedicated to new directors. The highlight of the festival is the Golden Puffin award ceremony which is Iceland’s answer to the Palme d’Or.

The focus at the RIFF Industry days this year is on the emerging talent in Iceland. Plunge into the country’s musical world renowned for artists such as Björk, Sigurrós, Múm and Of Monsters and Men and meet the Icelandic composers who are now storming the world of cinema. And, with Iceland fast becoming one of the hottest locations to shoot Hollywood movies a special guided trip will be made outside of Reykjavík to see some of the landmarks that have appeared in famous international projects.
