The Polish duo Ada Szulc and DJ Adamus filmed their latest music video in the harsh surroundings of Sólheimasandur on the south coast of Iceland. Filming took place in late December, during the shortest days of the year.

The band consists of singer Ada, who won the Polish X Factor television contest in 2011, and music producer DJ Adamus, who’s been involved in the Polish music scene for over a decade. The single, entitled Ocean, is sung in English and featured on their latest album, 1000 Places.

Iceland Mag contacted DJ Adamus and asked him about their stay in Iceland.

Did you enjoy your short stay in Iceland?
“Yes, we fell completely in love with Iceland which greeted us with frosty but sunny weather. Although we only spent five intense days in Iceland, we travelled around a lot so we became quite familiar with the country. The beautiful scenery and the friendly people are what we’ll remember from our stay.”

"The wind proved to be a problem while filming – one day a gust of wind almost tore the door of one of our rental cars."

Did you run into any problems while filming or did it run smoothly for the most parts?
“The weather surprised us, but we had been warned about it beforehand so we came prepared. The first day was very sunny and beautiful, the second day was less sunny but equally as beautiful. The wind proved to be a problem while filming – one day a gust of wind almost tore the door of one of our rental cars.”

Are you pleased with the results?
“We are very happy with the results. This is probably our best video so far and it has been very well received in Poland. I have the impression that it might turn out be a good advertisement for Iceland because many of our friends and fans have written to us regarding the video and we have of course encouraged them to visit Iceland.”

Where will you be shooting your next video?
“We’d like to film the next video somewhere in Africa, but the best decisions are often made near the end. I don’t want to reveal too much beforehand, I’d like to save the information until we have our tickets bought and ready.”

The DJ concludes the interview by thanking Icelanders for their great hospitality: “Thank you for welcoming us to your icy island. We would love to come back sometime soon, the country and the people have truly cast a spell on us.”
