One of the "great" waterfalls of Iceland is Dynjandi in Arnarfjörður fjord in the Westfjords. Dynjandi is also the best known waterfall in the Westfjords. The waterfall is composed of a series of samller waterfalls forms where Dynjandisá river plunges down from the heath into the fjord.

At the top of the cliffs at the edge of the heath the 100 m (330 ft) tall waterfall is 30 m (100 ft) wide, but spreads to 60 m (200 ft) at the bottom.

The waterfall was declared a protected natural monument in 1980.

An employee of the Environment Agency of Icelandic captured this beaitiful photo of the waterfall in its winter clothing. While the waterfall is easy to visit in the summer, it can be challenging to access in winter. Roads in the sparsely populated Westfjords are frequently closed due to avalanches or heavy snow.

If you plan to explore Dynjandi in the winter you should study the weather forecast carefully and prepare well!
