Both westbound lanes on the Ring Road out of Reykjavík to South Iceland, between the intersection of Þrengslavegur (road 39) and Litla kaffistofan roadside café west of Hellisheiði heath, will be closed today for road work. All westbound traffic will be directed to one of the eastbound lanes, reducing the number of lanes from four to two. Drivers are told to expect delays until 19:00 (7 pm) tonight when the roadwork is expected to be finished.

The westbound lanes on Hellisheiði heath, which separates Reykjavík and South Iceland, will also be closed today, Friday, due to road work and repairs. The westbound lanes on the Ring Road are closed at the western roundabout in Hveragerði town in South Iceland, and the intersection of Þrengslavegur and the Ring Road, by the Hellisheiði power plant.

All westbound traffic across the heath is rerouted to Þrengslin road (road 39). Drivers are asked to slow down, show patience and respect instructions and road signs.
