Life is good, local cheese from sheep can make it better

The Icelandic sheep is a traditional dish in Iceland, but other than its meat, the sheep has not been used for other produce in hundreds of years. The National Association of Sheep Farmers in Iceland (LS) wants to change this.

As reported by, the association has started a project called Sauðamjólk!, or Sheepmilk!, in where it wishes for sheep farmers to step forward should they wish to milk their sheep. The Chief Executive Officer of LS told Morgunbladid Daily that the association wants to work at making produce from sheep milk to sell on a local market. He says that there’s interest for Icelandic sheep cheese, especially white-mould cheese – something that has not been on the market for a number of years now.
