According to the local news site Turisti the market share of the two big Icelandic airlines, WOW air and Icelandair, has slipped significantly in the last year. Icelandair, Iceland's largest airline and heir to Iceland's first international airline, continued to see its dominance at Keflavík slip, despite having added a number of new flights last year, but even if WOW air increased its share, the two Icelandic airlines lost share to new foreign airlines.

In November of this year 50.8% of all outbound flights from Keflavík were made by Icelandair, compared to 64.5% same time last year. The market share of WOW air grew from 16.7% to 25.3%. The combined share of the Icelandic airlines therefore fell from ca 80% to ca 76%. EasyJet, the third largest airline at Keflavík also saw its share dip slightly, from 10.6% to 9.6%. New airlines made the largest gain, from 4.3% to 8.2% of all departures. This includes the Polish Wizz Air, Delta Airlines and British Airlines which are now flying to Iceland during the winter months.

On average 51 departures were made from Keflavík in November, an increase of 16 from last year.
