Matur & Drykkur, one of Reykjavík's best up-and-coming restaurants actually got a shout out from the UK Michelin Guide on Twitter in December, where it was described as "a super place".

The other three restaurants mentioned in the Michelin guide are Vox at Hotel Hilton Nordica, Gallery at Hotel Holt and Grillið at Hotel Saga. Here's what the Michelin guide has to say about these five places:

Dill, Hverfisgata 12

"This small, dimly-lit restaurant has become a favourite destination for New Nordic cooking. It resembles an old barn, and the best of the island's produce skilfully prepared at the central counter. Each dish uses just a handful of ingredients but demonstrates complexity in its textures and flavours."

Dill has one Michelin Star, for "High quality cooking, worth a stop! Using top quality ingredients, dishes with distinct flavours are carefully prepared to a consistently high standard."
