French off-roaders publish apology peppered with wild accusations, ask to be allowed to "continue their travel in peace"
A manhunt is underway in South Iceland after it was discovered that a man held at the prison Sogn in South Iceland had escaped. The prison break, which is believed to have taken place shortly after midnight was only discovered early morning.
The man, Sindri Þór Stefánsson is 192 cm (6 ft 4 in) tall. He is described as having an athletic build, with dark brown hair and a closely cropped beard. The word used by police to describe Sindri's beard is "skegghýjungur", which is used to describe the soft immature beard grown by boys and young men.
It is not known where Sindri is staying, but the manhunt has focused on South and South-West Iceland. The prison Sogn is located just off the Ring Road between the towns of Hveragerði and Selfoss. Police fears Sindri might attempt to leave the country.
Police in the Suðurnes District calls upon the public to come forward with any information which might be relevant to the investigation.
