Air Canada plans to add direct flights to Iceland in summer of 2017

Air Canada has announced that it will launch daily summer seasonal service from Canada to Keflavík airport starting in June 2017, pending approval by Icelandic authorities. The flights will operate four times weekly between Toronto and Keflavík and three times weekly from Montreal and Keflavík. Air Canada, the largest airline in Canada, will become the first Canadian airline to fly to Iceland.

According to a press release special introductory fares start as low as $698 round trip. Benjamin Smith, President, Passenger Airlines at Air Canada said he hoped the service would make it easier and cheaper for travellers from across Canada and the US to visit Iceland:

"Iceland is an emerging and exciting vacation destination growing in popularity with its array of outdoor leisure and cultural adventures, and we're looking forward to flying to the Land of Fire and Ice this summer."
