Jóna Lovísa Jónsdóttir, a minister and personal trainer, has gained much success in the popular sport model fitness. Jóna trains with her daughter Irma, who also competes in the sport.
Jóna Lovísa was assigned school pastor in Akureyri, north Iceland, in October 2008 but the position has since been terminated. She now works as a personal trainer.
“After having been made redundant I decided to sign up for University and studied to become a teacher. I also studied nutrition at The Institute for Integrative Nutrition and now work as a personal trainer,” she explains.
Jóna Lovísa practiced judo for many years but was forced to quit in 2009 due to injury. Instead she began weightlifting which eventually led her into model fitness. She began competing in body building, fitness and model fitness in 2010 and has won numerous titles, including first place in the category for women 35+ in the Icelandic Championship in fitness in 2013 and first place in classic body building in the Oslo Grand Prix in 2012.
Jóna Lovísa has three children, two daughters and a son. Her two daughters, Kristín and Irma Ósk, both train with their mother.
“Irma also competes in model fitness and has done very well. My youngest, my son Örvar, has not caught the fitness bug yet. But he might, one day,” she concludes.
