The Icelandic Met Office has named 130 Icelandic glaciers that were anonymous up until now, reports news website

The initiative is part of a more comprehensive project glaciologist Oddur Sigurðsson, Skúli Víkingsson, and the United States Earth Institute have been working on. Most of the unnamed glaciers are located in Tröllaskagi peninsula in North Iceland.

The new names were usually derived from local place names; Kelingarbaksjökull glacier is located west of Mount Kerling, Dyrajökull glacier is located in Dyrfjöll mountains in East Iceland.
